Ground works and foundations

an important and most critical factor that is commonly overlooked with any prospective buyer purchase a conservatory is the fact that the conservatory will be sitting at the footings the footings basically consists of a trench along the strip that is backfilled with concrete here at Johns brickwork we would like to take this opportunity to explain to you how we carry out this particular are most important part of your conservatory ground works

when you purchase a conservatory from us we carry out a preliminary site inspection to ascertain the sole condition phase in your garden is carried out by us within generally phone of the local council I’d talk to the building control section to which we can speak of a local approved inspector to ascertain the ground conditions of your  soil to your garden his knowledge of the local area is very valuable and pays dividends in the long run .

excavation of footings

all of our footings en.perimeter and shape of your conservatory this is marked out clearly with a yellow line called speed line once this is  in place we would then start  dig out your footings all of our footings.with minimum of 1 m deep by 450 mm wide as we are excavating we will be clearly looking at your ground conditions and anything that will become apparent we will take a close look at and carry out the necessary remedies a typical example of this would be heavy clay conditions when clay dries out the shrinks so therefore we would have to put either material and product called clay board to the inside of the footing this would allow for expansion and contraction so that your footings to move with ease .

should the incident arrives and we encounter underground pipework going through certain section of your footings if the pipework was very low in the ground that we would box section this off to the top of the footings and we would then lintel over this would reduce any weight bearing down on the pipework that would like to the bottom of the footing and should you need to gain access to this at any time department be readily available to do so we would generally back fill the void with some form of pea shingle

if the pipe was quite high then we would encapsulate the pipe with a form of quoted insulation and this will be taped tightly to make secure the reason we would put insulation around the pipe Woodbury so that when the concrete is pouredit would not nip or crack pipe and then as a precautionary measure we would then lead to one of the top to take off any weight bearing down this type of procedure with meat or building regulations

should we encounter any underground electrical cables we would inform the client answer guide as a precautionary measure we would encapsulate the cable that will be running throughany particular section of the footing size of the concrete would not  be able to bite it

if we were to find that the water pipes the room once again encapsulate the necessary pipework to ensure that no further damage will become apparent twitter any stage these are some of the basics that we have to watch out for and do should any of these unforeseen matters of arise
