Need a bricklayer

Need a bricklayer look no further johns brickwork ltd are specialists in all types of brickwork to building you a simple garden wall to complete new house if you take a look at this picture you see the construction of a new extension to the rear of the property.

This type of brickwork is being carried out it in half bond with Queen closures the closure is there to take up the remaining area in between the head of the brickwork and the face of the preceding brick.

If you take a close look at this picture you are fine the first break on the corner there is slightly showing in a blue colour is called the header next to the header is the Queen closure followed by the header again this time the brickwork is called Flemish bond this particular type of bond is many hundreds of years old and we used used it castles it is constructing of a 9 inch solid brickwork.

This particular corner bricks that we are using on this project are called half-board knows due to the fact that they have no corners the purpose of this would have been in the old days when our castle was under fire And that was fired by the enemy would have bounced off the circular turrets before the circular ones we would have used square turrets which would have been badly damaged event of fire.

There are many many types of brickwork bonds there are only three we mainly use nowadays the other half bond which is where the next brick is placed halfway above the next brick fence  half bond.

It is also English bond issue is one of the strongest bonds available due to the fact that it has less internal joints in any other bond. It comprises of header Queen closure header header header on one course the preceding course above this would be three-quarter then face face ice.

We would say that over 90% of the brickwork is used nowadays would be half bond Nero excessive over 10 to 15 bonds are no longer even accused existence in the building industry.

Conservatory bases

Hi there are welcome to my world today at Johns brickwork Ltd which started in a project today for a new client we have been contacted to carry out works to build a conservatory 8 m long 3 m projection offer the house wall

Firstly we had to remove patio slabs there was around about 200 of them and put them all to one side and removed the loose cement and sand, when we stacked all that and slabs on a pallet and then  started up and machines and tracked all the way through the house in the garden once in position week out lined the perimeter of the conservatory with an aerosol spray tin the name of this product is called speed line is highly visible in yellow and very clear to the eye. When the outline was completed the machine moved into position and started to excavate the ground to the shape of the yellow speed line that we had sprayed on the soil when the machine has a bucket full of soil it rotates around and places the soil from the bucket and places all the soil into the wheelbarrows to  the labourers that will push the wheelbarrows through the house into the main front garden and place the soil in the barren into the large skip in the road.

When when we have completed the excavation to a depth of 1 m deep skip will be full up  and probably weigh around 12 t in weight generally as a role when soil is damp or wet it can weight  buy one third more so you can imagine there be quite a bit of weight that carry through .The concrete lorry arrived just shortly after we had  excavated the footings for the conservatory he was carrying a special machine to pump concrete through a long metal pipe  through the house and into one into the footings this is called concrete pump the concrete lorry can discharge 5 m in around 5 min we consider this to be a critical timesaving factor for all of us.The name of the concrete and we use the split is called C 25 this is strong enough to build a single-storey extension on the concrete supplier that we buy from gives us a 25 year guarantee which gives all clients total piece of mine because the foundation is the most important part of all builds as people know that everything starts from the ground up this gives them total quality assurance.

The concrete that is being pumped by the machine called the concrete pump discharges its load into the footings are quite a volume and rate in most cases the concrete can come out the pipe quite hot this is due to the chemical reaction within the raw materials that occurs very sound natural process when the concrete is flowing freely within the footings with him placed the reinforcement bars in the concrete within the footings steel  bars give the footings added strength at the corners and on the front excavated area. Near the end of the pour we start to tap the concrete to get it level by temping remain a long piece of wood and 4 x 2″ and then beat  The concrete up and down initial sharp movements to level the concrete to preach hate the level the concrete will set hard overnight and then will begin a later stage  to start the brickwork to form the conservatory
