hi there  john here a quick summary of what happened today on some of our building sites at present we have four sites on the go throughout Essex but today the purpose of the blog we will talk  about one job which we started two weeks ago for a local client.

We started this job two weeks ago complete garden makeover from top to bottom first of all we cleared the garden with mechanical digger we removed approximately 10 tonnes  of soil on rubble once it  was transported out of the front Road  local haulage company  came to remove the waste the reason for this is because it has to be disposed of at a licence refuge site owned by the council of Southend-on-Sea Essex we returned to the garden for more preparation the  grading is when we  levels out with its ditching bucket about four  foot wide replaced fence panels to both sides of boundaries and of course the rear fence panel was well the gardens coming on well and we are making preparation for the planting areas at a small fishpond that will have a little bridge leading to the garden shed at the end of the garden we will of course keep you updated with more more pictures of the progress of the job.

But due to the weather that we having today and those forecasts if the rest of the week we have had to stop work untill better weather arrives .Thats all folks for now

Floor joists

Posted on November 8th, 2010 by johns-admin-dw  |  Comments Off on Floor joists

This picture was recently taken off a project in Southend-on-Sea Essex as you can clearly see in the picture we are installing the new supporting floor joists at joists level.

The timber construction of the joists consists of 175 mm x 50 mm the timbers are laid out of 400 centres the plate which is the surrounding timber is screwed down its every 400 mm. In between the joists we will place timber noggings the reason we place phase in between the joists so that you sit structural and added strength to the floor joists. We are expecting a visit from the local building Inspector From Southend-On-Sea Essex when the building inspector has made he or  her visual inspection we would then carry on to the next page of the choice left this will entail the first fixings of all electrical items i.e. plug sockets and associated works to the build all electricians works will conform to all building regulations that given the customer total peace of mind.

On this particular project electrician will install a new consumer units this is to replace the old electrical box that the client has at this present moment the upgrade of this due to the fact that the old box is the original one of some 40 years of age at Johns brickwork Ltd will always conduct a visual inspection and should any think apparent it will be noted that upgrades will be required to conform to the regulations

At the same time the plumber will how the  install copper pipework for the flow returns of the central heating

Conservatory bases

Posted on November 2nd, 2010 by johns-admin-dw  |  Comments Off on Conservatory bases

Hi there are welcome to my world today at Johns brickwork Ltd which started in a project today for a new client we have been contacted to carry out works to build a conservatory 8 m long 3 m projection offer the house wall

Firstly we had to remove patio slabs there was around about 200 of them and put them all to one side and removed the loose cement and sand, when we stacked all that and slabs on a pallet and then  started up and machines and tracked all the way through the house in the garden once in position week out lined the perimeter of the conservatory with an aerosol spray tin the name of this product is called speed line is highly visible in yellow and very clear to the eye. When the outline was completed the machine moved into position and started to excavate the ground to the shape of the yellow speed line that we had sprayed on the soil when the machine has a bucket full of soil it rotates around and places the soil from the bucket and places all the soil into the wheelbarrows to  the labourers that will push the wheelbarrows through the house into the main front garden and place the soil in the barren into the large skip in the road.

When when we have completed the excavation to a depth of 1 m deep skip will be full up  and probably weigh around 12 t in weight generally as a role when soil is damp or wet it can weight  buy one third more so you can imagine there be quite a bit of weight that carry through .The concrete lorry arrived just shortly after we had  excavated the footings for the conservatory he was carrying a special machine to pump concrete through a long metal pipe  through the house and into one into the footings this is called concrete pump the concrete lorry can discharge 5 m in around 5 min we consider this to be a critical timesaving factor for all of us.The name of the concrete and we use the split is called C 25 this is strong enough to build a single-storey extension on the concrete supplier that we buy from gives us a 25 year guarantee which gives all clients total piece of mine because the foundation is the most important part of all builds as people know that everything starts from the ground up this gives them total quality assurance.

The concrete that is being pumped by the machine called the concrete pump discharges its load into the footings are quite a volume and rate in most cases the concrete can come out the pipe quite hot this is due to the chemical reaction within the raw materials that occurs very sound natural process when the concrete is flowing freely within the footings with him placed the reinforcement bars in the concrete within the footings steel  bars give the footings added strength at the corners and on the front excavated area. Near the end of the pour we start to tap the concrete to get it level by temping remain a long piece of wood and 4 x 2″ and then beat  The concrete up and down initial sharp movements to level the concrete to preach hate the level the concrete will set hard overnight and then will begin a later stage  to start the brickwork to form the conservatory

SOUTHEND ON SEA BUILDERS

Posted on November 1st, 2010 by johns-admin-dw  |  Comments Off on SOUTHEND ON SEA BUILDERS

What difference a week can  make now that the clocks challenged in the mornings being brighter earlier in the evenings drawing in much quickly one of our recent projects on the go in Essex today I met with several tradesmen Roger the plumber and Andy electrician Antonia roofer. The roof was fully completed today and complying to all building regulations and standards that they were looking for by the local building inspectors I will update this in pictures of the progress on the job in Southend-on-Sea Essex.

All works were carried out by Johns brickwork Ltd Southend-on-Sea Essex according to the weather forecasters the weather is looking great for the rest of the week as this will keep it in good stead as we will be rendering the complete outside of the property the first, we will apply is called scratch coat it is totally waterproof and the second coat will be totally waterproof but will be very splendid finish flat render. The mix for this will be six parts sand one part cement this is a ratio will recall six and one hopefully by the end of the week and we can remove scaffolding and carry on with more internal works which we will post more pictures for you to see . At all in all not a bad day completion is steady for the next four weeks hopefully  we will be on time for completion.

We used audio tiles to the front and side elevation of the building so from the view from the outside looking from the road could not give away any tell-tale signs of a newly extended property group reinstate second-hand tiles to the back and try to match accordingly  ,We would have been approached by a neighbour across the road to supply them with a costings for there build to which they have approved plans passed and signed by an architect hopefully will be fortunate enough to win this contract entered their works this is something we look forward to. We will upload all pictures on this blog for you to see later
